Sporting a snazzy new logo, the Covent Garden-based company made <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roh.org.uk\/latest-news\/2024-25-season-announced\">the announcement<\/a> while unveiling their 2024\/2025 season.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Driving the news:<\/strong> On April 30th, the Royal Ballet and Opera\u2019s communications team ushered in a new era for the legendary theatre. Oliver Mears and Kevin O\u2019Hare, the two heads of the Royal Opera and Ballet respectively, called the dubbing \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/culture\/opera\/royal-opera-house-royal-ballet-new-season-b1154503.html\">long overdue<\/a>.\u201d They noted that the name change demonstrates the two art forms\u2019 equality within the Covent Garden theatre.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The gossip:<\/strong> Over the years, Mears <a href=\"https:\/\/www.standard.co.uk\/culture\/opera\/royal-opera-house-royal-ballet-new-season-b1154503.html\">intimated<\/a> that the Royal Ballet and Opera companies\u2019 relationships with one another have been a touch adversarial. They\u2019ve at times competed for stage time and programming considerations in the London theatre. However, the two company\u2019s leaders agreed that they now have an exemplary relationship.<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Opera, like many other UK arts organizations, has struggled in recent years, experiencing a 20% loss in income.
